Röhm Handgun Parts I need some help obtaining several parts for a handgun made by Röhm Gmb H chambered in .357 with a serial number of 5265. It came into the United States through their US division, RG Industries in Miami sometime in the 1960s. What I need is the cylinder release thumb slide and its attaching screw. I have checked with Numrich Gun Parts without success. All they have is a RG in .38 Special which might be on the same frame. My catalog from Jack First doesn’t list any RGs.

Higgins Shotgun I’m anew gunsmith, though I’ve been around firearms all my life. My Grandfather is turning 84 and as a present, I’d like to repair his old J. C. Higgins 12 gauge goose gun that one of my friends broke.

He’s long since forgiven me and said pal but the shotgun has been in the family for many years and it has great sentimental value. The shell carriage broke at the carriage arm after firing 12 gauge magnum shotshells through the gun. To date, I haven’t had any luck in repairing it and would appreciate your input concerning parts replacement and repair. The shotgun you describe puzzles us more then a little. We have found no mention of a J. C. Higgins "Goose Gun" in the cross reference files.

The only such description is associated with the Marlin model 55 with a 36" barrel and lacking a shell carriage. It was/is a bolt action shotgun with a two-round magazine and the capability of reaching high flying honkers despite the fact of being cylinder bore. Perhaps Grandpa’s gun was his pet for similar reasons so that’s the way he referred to it. If there are any parts available in the aftermarket you will need the name of the original manufacturer and model number of the gun to find them.

H&R Revolver I received atop break, auto eject H&R revolver in my shop. When it arrived the trigger would not engage the sear. Thinking it was a weak sear spring, I replaced it. Everything worked fine during reassembly until the hammer was installed and I found out I still had the same problem. Having no references on this particular gun, I’m stumped. Is there a procedure or trick to reinstalling the hammer?

However, there are three H&R revolvers covered in the hardcover manual The NRA Guide to Firearms Assembly: Rifles & Shotguns/Pistols & Revolvers. Determine which one matches the revolver in question, read the instructions and react accordingly.

Eric Cox Lubbock, TX Specialty Tools For Gunsmiths When I read "Specialty Tools For Gunsmiths" in the August 2014 issue I remembered something I found in Walmart: Interdental cleaning brushes available in the tooth brush section. They are like a nylon bore brush except the brush is 0.1 inches in diameter. They are well made and work great on cleaning small screw holes, firing pin holes, and small cracks and groves. Price is three or four dollars for a pack of 8 to 16 brushes with protective caps.
