Firearms Industry Assists Veterans

In case you’re not familiar with it, Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) is a not-for-profit organization that was formed last year by companies in the shooting and outdoor-sports industries. HAVA was developed to raise awareness and to assist disabled veterans in their healing process through participation in guided hunts, shooting events, and other active outdoor sports. HAVA recently launched anew website at which I’m sure you’ll want to check out.

The HAVA website contains information about the organization along with details on how an individual or business can become involved and/or become a contributor.

Supporters who assist with HAVA’s mission of helping veterans heal through active participation in outdoor sports will receive a listing on the HAVA website, a link to their own website, a commemorative recognition award, plus the satisfaction of contributing to a cause that supports those Americans who have given so much to protect our freedoms and our way of life. "HAVA was formed by several concerned firearm and outdoor companies for the sole purpose of supporting disabled veterans and active-duty soldiers," said Tom Taylor, Chairman of HAVA. "Support for the organization has been overwhelming, and the website gives usanew means to communicate and raise awareness.

Thus far, HAVA has served 57 disabled veterans and active-duty soldiers by hosting three hunts and a shooting event at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Another major shooting event took place October 18, 2008, at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas. HAVA is also currently planning several other hunts and events across the United States.

HAVA, in my opinion, is another good example of the many ways in which members of the firearms industry support our great country and the brave individuals who do so much to ensure it remains great.
